Accessing Government Grants

To access government grants in Australia, you need to follow these steps:

Visit GrantConnect, the Australian Government’s centralised grant information system. You can search for current and forecast grant opportunities and view details of grants awarded by the Australian Government.

  • Register for a free account on GrantConnect to access more features, such as saving your searches, subscribing to email alerts, and downloading grant documents.

  • Read the grant opportunity guidelines carefully to understand the eligibility criteria, application process, selection criteria, reporting requirements, and other conditions.

  • Prepare your application according to the instructions provided in the grant opportunity guidelines. You may need to provide evidence of your organisation’s legal status, financial viability, and capacity to deliver the project.

  • Submit your application online through GrantConnect before the closing date and time. You will receive an acknowledgement email confirming your submission.

  • Wait for the outcome of your application. The grant opportunity guidelines will indicate the expected timeframe for the assessment and notification process. You will be notified of the outcome by email or letter.

  • If your application is successful, you will need to enter into a grant agreement with the Australian Government. The grant agreement will specify the terms and conditions of the grant, including the payment schedule, reporting obligations, and performance indicators.

  • If your application is unsuccessful, you may request feedback on your application from the contact officer listed in the grant opportunity guidelines. You may also be able to apply for a review of the decision if you believe there was an error in the assessment process.
